\n
\nThese paddles are aimed at Wave Riding, but testing has shown that they also make excellent flat water, downwind and coastal use paddles for every rider who is looking for a great paddle with a light and crisp feel, delivering excellent performance for both the competition and recreational environment.
\n
\nThe 'Wave series' features 2 completely new blade shapes , both with the same 27 x 31mm Oval shafts and full T Handles for 2016 onwards, with further refinements to comfort, performance and versatility over our previous 'Wave series', which had the same blade, but 2 different size shafts.
\n
\nBoth paddles are fixed length only, featuring 2 different 3K Full Carbon/Kevlar ABS edged blades, a 27 x 31mm Oval 70% 3K Carbon/Kevlar shaft for optimum strength and durability and enough give to survive most wipe outs, and a new 'Full T' 100% 3K Carbon/Kevlar Handle, with Blade, Shaft and Handle in Gloss finish.
\n
\nOur 70% Oval Carbon/Kevlar shaft gives a 'fast return', but is optimised for strength and durability with good performance, and the combination of the new blades and shafts results in a paddle that is well over 100g lighter than the model it replaces. This gives both blades a more responsive and crisper feel than the previous series, being especially suited to short high cadence strokes when needed, but especially with the 7 ¼ inch blade, there is still considerable power and a stable feel when going for full blade engagement.
\n
\nAimed at 50kg> riders and the more experienced primarily, beginners also revel in all that these shaft and blade combinations deliver, so there is nothing to stop a less experienced rider going for a flat water set up (we recommend + 10 to 12\" over body height for flat water) and then reducing the length for a more dedicated Wave use (+ 9\" or 8\" is a good starting point for waves) at a later stage as they get better and build their skills. Repeated modifications like this are easy as long as you have the handle fitted with 'hot melt glue' to allow it's easy removal to cut the shaft shorter each time!
\n
\nWe could make these paddles even lighter, but have deliberately optimised to give a light, crisp and balanced feel combined with the optimum 'strength to weight ratio', as we know wave riding can be a harsh environment!
\n
\nThe 'Wave' encourages good technique and rider effort with a very dynamic feel, while still having the right flex characteristics to reduce the risk of strain, fatigue or even injury for all paddlers, but these paddles will drive you quite hard if you choose to paddle hard, so if you are new to this and have fallen in love with our Wave paddle, treat yourself gently while your fitness comes up to match that of the paddle!
\n
\nThe 7.28\" wide blade excels in flat water/coastal performance, but gives you tremendous power and drive when you need it in a wave, so is becoming a favoured shape amongst riders seeking solid performance over pure steer and brace stroke feel, while the 7.8\" blade is aimed at the more purist wave user, with more uniform steering feel due to flatter blade face, but both will work fine in the wave environment, and it's more a matter of personal choice so we encourage you to try both models if you can.
\n
\nOf special note should be our desire to accommodate tall riders up to around 7'/214cm with our whole range! Please take this into account when looking at weights, as many makes of paddles are a lot shorter, and many companies quote their weight's when cut to just 78\"!
