AFS-1 Foil Range - Advanced AHD Strongbox head

The AFS-1 and the evolution model AFS-1 Mk2 Foils, have been developed with simple objectives - to plane in ultra-light wind, for freeride, multi-discipline and ease of use.

The AFS-1 and AFS-MK2 Boards lean towards freeride/slalom/race, while the multi-purpose Sealion Wings is great for SUP, Windsurf, WindFoil and SUPFoil - all are compatible with the AFS-1 and AFS-1 mk2 Foils, the only ones to benefit from our tool-less assembly, manufactured from an incredibly strong Full-Carbon construction.

The AHD AFS-1 Foil & Board was unveiled in its original form back in 2008. This is the very first Windsurf foil series product. We have developed the thick foil, very powerful and strong, to take off in the lightest winds with great ease, allowing us to open amazing new horizons in the practice of Windsurfing.

The AFS-1 range is now composed of 3 board styles (Sealion Wings, AFS-1, AFS-1 Mk2), and two sets of wings (AFS-1, SUPfoil/Windfoil compatible, and AFS-1 mk2 which is dedicated to Windfoil).

The AFS-1 and AFS-1 MK2 Board Shapes are specifically optimized for efficiency and comfort, with construction and the specific head and board boxes designed for ultra solid attachment and ultimate strength, in order to resist the huge stresses imposed on these components, ensuring delivery of precise control and feedback for the rider.

The combination of these well proven and advanced features, ensure an easy and rapid takeoff, ensuring that the AFS-1 range of Foils and Boards continue to deliver for every rider, (be they 1st timers, or very experienced) the ultimate in Ultra Lightwind Windfoiling!

The original objective was always to be able to Foil with a 7.5m sail (or less) in winds where the only board that might have been planning was a Formula, with 70cm + fin & 11m + Sail! We have more than handsomely achieved these goals, with planning from 5 knots!

The Boards

AFS-1 Board: The AFS-1 is the first board specifically developed for the Windfoil, and is still as effective and versatile as ever with its moderate volume and its very specific shape, with its hole on the nose, which helps control in the medium wind by decreasing the surface tension grip, while maintaining the advantages of balance at higher speeds.

AFS-1 MK2 Board: The AFS-1 MK2 is our latest and most specific shape dedicated to Windsurf-foil., it has both the AHD Box and the Deep Tuttle Box, so can carry the AFS-1 or the AFS-2 Foils, or run with a standard Deep Tuttle Slalom Fin.

With more volume, it has been developed by integrating all the needs induced by the new generation of foils, along with the new formats of competition rapidly being introduced on the racing circuit (gybe foiling, reaching and much more !).

Planning is faster, easier, and the flat deck with the specific shape of the rails under the heels promotes a perfect transmission of strength and power for more control and performance. We have kept the forward AHD box position to facilitate the easy take off in the very lightest of winds and for easy learning of these new skills with the AFS-1 and AFS-1 Mk2 foils.

AFS-1 FOIL Design

The AFS-1 is the first foil put into production, and it remains more than ever the foil of choice for many riders thanks to its strengths which cannot be denied:

-Windfoil and SUPfoil versatility
-take off at very low speed (5 knots of real speed, soft waves of small size)
-Ultra-Lightwind capabilities.

AFS-1 Mk2 FOIL design

Based on the AFS-1, the front wing is different. It is a new profile, benefiting from years of development, which boost the higher speed performance of the AFS-1 for Windfoil.

With this wing, the AFS-1 (in use as Windsurf Foil) is easier, more tolerant of rider input, faster, and more powerful to the rear, without a large loss to its starting qualities at very low speed.

This new front wing AFS-1MK2 is available as a single wing for windsurfers already equipped with an AFS-1. Simply remove the original wing and fit the Mk2 in its place.

AFS-1/AFS-1 Mk2 or Sealion Wings Boards?

These two ranges of boards are compatible with the Foil with AHD Head.

AFS-1 Board: This is the board specifically designed for the foil. Perhapse still the easiest and most efficient at all ranges of Foil use. It works only with the foil. The board can take off from Just 4 knots!

AFS-1 Mk2 Board: This Board is designed to comply with the latest competition constraints and needs. It can be used with either, AFS-1 or AFS-2 Foils and will take a conventional Deep Tuttle Fin (although hull shape is not optimised for performance with a standard Windsurfing fin).

Sealion Wings: The most versatile - it takes off less early and is less easy to hold in the high plane position, but it is also suitable for Lightwind Wave Sailing just the Twin US box fins, and Stand up Paddle Foil or Classic SUP with the Twin Fins, making it by far the most versatile Foil Board available!
